Aluminum coil processing technology
Silicon is corrosive to cemented carbide. Although aluminum alloys with more than 12% Si are generally referred to as high silicon aluminum alloys and diamond cutting tools are recommended, this is not absolute. Some manufacturers therefore recommend using diamond cutters when the silicon content exceeds 8% .
Aluminum alloy with silicon content between 8% and 12% is a transition zone, which can be made by using either conventional cemented carbide or diamond tool. But the use of cemented carbide should be used by PVD (physical coating) method, aluminum-free, smaller thickness of the film tool. Because the PVD method and the small film thickness make it possible for the tool to maintain a sharp cutting edge (otherwise the aluminum alloy will not be sharp enough if the edge is passivated enough to prevent the film from growing abnormally at the Edge) , however, the aluminum-containing film material may cause the blade film to have the affinity with the workpiece material and destroy the bond between the film and the tool substrate. Because the superhard coating is mostly aluminum, nitrogen, titanium compounds, may be due to cemented carbide matrix with the film exfoliation when a small amount of exfoliation caused by avalanche.
One of the following three types of cutting tools is recommended:
1. Non-coated carbide cutting tools with ultra-fine particles
2. Carbide tools with non-aluminized coating (PVD) process, e. g. TiN, TiC, etc.
3. With diamond cutters
The chip-holding space of the tool should be large, it is generally recommended to use 2 teeth, the rake angle and the back angle should be large (such as 12 ° -14 ° , including the back angle of the end teeth) . If it is only general milling face, can use 45 ° angle of the main angle of indexable face milling cutter, with special processing of aluminum alloy blades, should be better. Aluminum oxide has been used in 1808, electrolysis in the laboratory, and as a building material since 1884 at the American Washington Monument; Aluminum alloy materials synthesized by adding various metal elements have been widely used in the construction industry. The thickness of aluminum alloy plate in common use: the thickness of advanced metal roof (and curtain wall) system is generally 0.8-1.2 mm (while the traditional one is generally ≥2.5 mm) .
